My Accident

Today marks 4 years of FREEDOM from day jobs and answering to bosses.

But before you break out the champagne and cheers me, I have a story to share.

Because before I got free, I had to experience a wake up call that I will never forget.

I had recently moved to Hawaii and I was invited on one of those zodiac boats (the ones which look like a raft with a motor) for a ‘fun little ride’.

The driver of the boat was my neighbor and unbeknownst to me, he was a bit of a show off.

I’ll spare you the play-by-play but basically he pushed that motor to an extreme and the way the boat hit a wave after catching air caused the rubber to tear my left ankle to pieces.

Sean's bad foot
I had to get reconstructive surgery and I was off my feet for 7 months.

I’m a big believer in ‘taking responsibility’ for my results and I intuitively I knew there was a deeper meaning to this experience and that it was not ‘just an accident’.

After doing some soul searching I found it:  I was not following my calling (to help people) and the universe was letting me know I was off course.

With this awareness staring me in the face, I knew exactly what I was supposed to do (I had been considering coaching for years): I took the plunge and enrolled in a coach certification program.

The rest as they say… is history.

I can’t even imagine what my life would be like right now if I hadn’t listened.

So what’s the moral of this story?

Life is leading us to where we’re meant to be.  And when we get off course, we get wake up calls to get us back on.

But we have to listen.

What’s devastating to me is seeing so many people call everything in their life that doesn’t fit into ‘their plans’ an ‘accident’.

There are no accidents.

Just like an acorn, from birth we contain in us the un-manifested potential of our magnificence.

And when we get off course, getting back on is just a question of taking responsibility and listening to our heart.

Anyway, that ‘accident’ lead me to what today is true freedom.

I have a booming business doing what I love, making a difference in people’s lives, working only 3 days a week!!

And for that I am eternally grateful.

If you got value from this, please comment and share your thoughts.

With love,

How To Get a New Client Today

I’ve been in a great place lately with the exciting news of becoming a father and I keep thinking about things I want to share with you.

I often hear from entrepreneurs who are frustrated because they struggle to attract enough clients despite having invested in multiple programs on the latest and greatest marketing ‘secret’.

It pains my heart to hear this when I know how simple the solution really is.

So today I’ve decided to walk you through a 3 step process I’ve used to keep my practice full for 3 years straight.

Now before I get into what that is I want to preface this by saying that you might breeze by these ideas fast and overlook the power of them because they are so simple.

Please don’t do that.

The fact is, many entrepreneurs and others who make a living from selling  often get caught in the trap of trying to ‘will’ their business to success.

They look for the perfect marketing strategy that will allow them to have a steady steam of clients coming to them effortlessly but more often then not it turns out to be a whole lot of work.

Because it’s not sustainable they give up and find themselves back where they started: struggling to get clients.

This brings with it a lot of shame and ‘I’m not good enough’ type of thinking.

I’m not saying marketing strategies don’t work.  Many do and you should continue to learn and master them.

What I am saying is that relying solely on ‘strategies’ alone will never work in the long term because they are based entirely on external ‘outer game’ effort.

The solution to your client attraction problem is not in the outer game at all.

So lets get into the 3 part process:

1.  The first step is that you must believe that you are supported by the universe.

It may feel at times like you are alone in this quest to build your business, but you are not.

Your business (just like yourself) has a greater purpose than just to produce income and support you / your family.

Many entrepreneurs I meet get lost in ‘small business’ thinking.

They might be connected to their own purpose for doing what they do but they don’t see the bigger picture – that their business plays a role beyond them – and that it is an integral part of the great dance of life.

That interconnectedness of all things is not just some esoteric concept from The Ling King.  It’s truth.  And it applies to your business as much as it does to you.

When you ‘remember’ this, you can’t help but feel supported by something greater.

This brings us to step 2 of the process:

2.  Own this mantra: “I’m so happy and grateful now that ideal clients come to me all the time, in increasing quantities from endless sources without strain or stress.”

It’s true.  They do.  And they always will… as long as you keep this mantra by your side and BELIEVE IT.

Repeat it daily and allow it to sink into your subconscious mind.  Then it will become a way of life for you.

And this brings us to the final (and 3rd) step of the process:

3. You must take inspired ‘real world’ action consistently.

It doesn’t really matter what you do.  As long as do something that includes other people, you will attract clients.

I’ve attracted clients at the beach, at the bar, at coffee shops, at the airport, at networking events and on and on it goes.

Of course the best action you could take would be to put yourself into communities of people who fit your ideal client profile.

But don’t get overly hung up on that right now.

Just step outside your bubble… bringing with you part 1 and part 2 of this processs and you will be successful.

Don’t believe me?  Think you need the next whiz bang super duper stealth marketing strategy?

Don’t get caught up in the hype.

Business (and life) are inside games.  Master this part and the outer will always come.

As T. Harv Ecker says in the Secrets of the Millionaire Mind:  “If you want to change the visible, you have to change the invisible first”

Okay, so lets pull it all together:

#1: You believe that you are supported by the universe.

#2: You own the mantra: “I’m so happy and grateful now that ideal clients come to me all the time, in increasing quantities from endless sources without strain or stress”

#3: You take inspired ‘real world’ action consistently

That’s it.  I told you it was simple.

When I started my business 4 years ago I had nothing but the desire to achieve my first coaching goal of 5 clients. I had no sales skills, no niche, no website and no company name.

But I had this process inside of me.

And it has served me so well that I wanted to make sure you had access to it too.

Go out and attract a new client today.  I know you can do it.

If this was helpful to you and you got value (or clients) out of it, I’d love to hear about it.

Send me a shout!

With Love,

The Cause of Failure (and Success) Revealed

I wanted to share a powerful insight with you:

Success is not random.  Success is an exact science.  It’s as sure as 2+2 = 4.

Don’t believe me?  Read on.

Failure vs Success

Most of us (if we live in or were brought up in America) are a by-product of a culture that is disconnected from it’s source (the invisible realm).

Because of this we have a tendency to mistake our current reality (the visible realm) as truth and in doing so use the law of attraction against us by mentally out-picturing more of what we don’t want (more of what already was).

On the flip side, when we picture the life we want to have, we tend to focus on all the positive external results that we’ll receive when we get there:
Abundance of money, a fulfilling career, healthy and loving relationships, optimal and radiant health, and on and on.

But here’s the thing.  The error we’re making when we think of success in terms of external results is that we are mistaking the rewards of success for the state of mind called: ‘success-ful’.

It’s not that you shouldn’t focus on external results (you should, because they produce the vibration of ‘already having them’ in your body which brings them to you) but don’t mistake the fruits for the roots.

Do you see the difference?

Do you ever notice that successful people tend to exude success-full energy?

Do you notice that they have a consistent success-full state of mind that they operate from?  That they aren’t just successful in terms of what they have achieved but also in terms of their being?

In this realization lies the key to ALL success in life – for you, myself and everybody.

In order to ‘achieve’ successful results, we must BE SUCCESS-FUL in our being.

In the famous book “The Science of Getting Rich”  Wallace D. Wattles breaks down the exact science of success and shows us how simple it really is.

To reference chapter 12 “Efficient Action”:

“Every act is, in itself, either effective or inefficient.  Every inefficient act is a failure and if you spend your life in doing inefficient acts, your whole life will be a failure. On the other hand, every efficient act is a success in itself, and if every act of your life is an efficient one, your whole life MUST be a success. The cause of failure is doing too many things in an inefficient manner, and not doing enough things in an efficient manner. If, now, it is possible for you to make each act an efficient one, you see that the getting of riches is reduced to an exact science, like mathematics. The matter turns, then, on the question of whether you can make each separate act a success in itself. And this you can certainly do.”

So there you have it.

Make each moment matter by making it success-full.  Build successful moment on top of successful moment and you create “success momentum”.

If half the time you are successful and the other half you are unsuccessful, your results will mirror that and be half-half.

So tip the scales and be successful more often than not (in your being) and you can’t help but experience successful external results.

And if you want to go for the gold, be success-ful ALL THE TIME and you can’t help but create everything you ever dreamed of and more.

This is not always easy to do because it requires self discipline and a high level of FAITH.

But it’s the road to success so in my humble opinion, those are small sacrifices to me for a lifetime of fulfillment.

I hope this was helpful to you and if so, let me know!

Success is Your Birthright

A lot of people have been commenting lately about the tagline for my company, “Success is your birthright, Create it”

… And they have been asking me “what exactly does that mean?”

It got me thinking about how important it is for me to define it clearly for you because the “gold” contained in that tagline is responsible for ALL the success that I’ve accomplished since starting my business 4+ years ago.

successMaybe you can easily pick up on the idea of “Success is Your Birthright”.  I mean, it’s fairly obvious that I’m saying that “success is our natural state as humans”.

But what exactly does that mean that success is our natural state?

The easiest way to explain is to flip it around by stating the opposite, which is that “failure is not our natural state.”

Failure is a human concept that only exists in our minds (failure only occurs when we ‘fail’ ourselves by giving up or calling ourselves “failures”).   Failure is a concept based on rules that we made up, or someone made up for us, and we follow…most likely unconsciously.

On the other hand, success (which I see as synonymous with “fulfillment”, “abundance” and “wealth”) describes life itself.

Every moment of every day, we are naturally propelled forward (in our thoughts, words and actions) to expand and increase ourselves.

Life is about growth. The pursuit of more. The quest to be more, do more, achieve more, and on and on it goes.

Therefore ‘Success’, which is the state of ‘being (and becoming) more’ IS OUR NATURE.

Now here’s the catch… and also the reason why I say, ‘Create it’:

We are our worst enemies on this quest.

No obstacle or opponent can derail our progress more than our own selves.
(Did you know that external obstacles stop us from our goals less than 10% of the time??)

And when this “shadow self” stands in our way long enough, we fall victim to what appears to be failure. And in that, we fail ourselves.

But we don’t like to see it that way, so instead we make up excuses:

  • “I can’t get enough clients”
  • “I’m not good at marketing”
  • “Business is slow because of the recession”
  • “Nothing good ever happens to me”
  • “No one has any money”
  • “There are no good jobs / opportunities out there”

These excuses are convenient (and socially acceptable) but what really happened was that WE CREATED OUR “FAILURE” and then we refused to take responsibility for it.

When you get caught up in this type of projection, it’s important to catch yourself and remember that your results are ALWAYS created by YOU.

Many entrepreneurs I do free consultations with come to me with the same fundamental error in thinking. They believe something or someone else is causing their results.

It could be past trauma, a dysfunctional upbringing, an illness or ‘handicap’, bad relationships or a rainbow of other “stories” that cause them to believe this.

I understand the power and seeming reality of these limiting beliefs, and I’m not going to make them wrong.

But the ONE QUESTION to ask when analyzing our own beliefs is NOT: “Is this belief right or wrong?”… but rather: “Is this belief empowering or weakening me?”

So let me ask you this: if you question being responsible for the results you create in life:

  • Is that empowering or weakening you?

My guess is that you understand that when you give things ‘outside of you’ the power to control your life, you become a victim… and your life becomes ‘out of control’.

If you feel like things are out of your control right now, then you’ve been living with a limiting belief structure that is affecting your ability to have the life you want.

And who is responsible for that belief structure?  You got it.

Now, before I pull this all together, let me make one qualification of the above statements.

I said that when we allow things “outside” of ourselves to control our results,  we become victims and our lives become ‘out of control’.

This is accurate but it leaves out a crucial component to the process: that life is really a process of co-creation.

In other words it’s 100% up to us but whatever we choose to do, we get 100% support from the ‘the universe’ on that (whether we choose the ‘right’ thing or the ‘wrong’ thing).

This explains the concept of  “providence moves in” as well as the law of attraction.

It also explains why you might have gotten confused at some point about who’s in control of your life.

The problem stems from the fact that we tend to project that the Universe is ‘out there’ but it’s ‘in here’ and it’s not separate from us.

So the bottom line is that each one of us is 100% in control of the results we create in life, period.

So create the very best.

I know it was long, but hopefully it was worthwhile and at the very least now you’ll always know what I mean when I say,

“Success is Your Birthright.  Create it.”

If got value out of this let me know.  I love hearing from you.
